Much to Pops Racer's chagrin, according to Just Jared, High School Musical "star" Zac Efron is in talks to star as Speed in the Wachowski Brothers' adaptation of Speed Racer. If Zac nails the part, he can add the coveted nerd demographic to the adolescent girls contingent he already dominates.You know, it is said that he who controls the nerds and the 10 to 14-year-old girls controls the world. Is Zac Efron the geek/tween messiah solemnly written of in Tiger Beat and Slashdot? Only time will tell.

You know, I remember how the other girls in school were always reading Tiger Beat, carting it around with their schoolbooks in the obsessive fashion only tween girls are capable of. I never read the magazine. Even now, I have this vague, uncomfortable feeling that I missed something vital in those early impressionable years, some indefinable something that would have revealed the mysteries of 80s tween culture...
It's just a feeling. It will pass.
