Bubble? Boy!

It sadly bears repeating: there are facts, and then there are those things that aren't facts... which can be called, for instance, "lies" or "untruths" or "misstatements" depending on the speaker's motivation and insight. With that in mind, behold! Politifact!

Now, Politifact is hardly perfect (remember in 2011 when they declared the idea that Republicans voted to end Medicare their “Lie of the Year” for 2011… after lots of lobbying by Paul Ryan for that to be declared a lie, after Republicans had done just that), but like logic, Politifact is where wisdom begins, not ends. It’s a great place to dive into the day’s most news-worthy statements, check out a cool Truth-o-Meter and then to dive deeper into your Bing searches of that news.

Or just read lots of local newspapers' online feeds. Or listen to more than one talk radio station. Stay informed; stay alert… just don’t stay in a bubble.

Squirrel!

You start to lose hope, then you learn that there's a teenytiny newspaper honoring their "Squirrel of the Month" every, well, month. Life finds a way.

Reconcile.

"The path of least resistance is the path of the loser."
~H.G. Wells

“Learn things, be good to each other. Read the newspapers, go to the movies, go to a party, read a book. In the meantime, remember pluralism. You want to get these people? I mean, you really want to go in and kill them where they live? Keep accepting more than one idea. Makes them absolutely crazy. “~Josh, The West Wing, ‘Isaac & ishmael’
